The truth about PageRank
PR is one of the core technologies that Google originally developed for the ranking of websites in the search results. Combined with other factors, the search results are ordered or ranked. A considerable amount of analysis has gone into understanding PR, when all along Google made it obvious on their site just how it was done: Pigeon Rank

Google Logos
Google change their logo on a temporary basis thoughout the year to celebrate some events and holidays. The, often witty, designs are put together by Dennis Hwang. Google have a museum of their holiday logos. Google also do not tolerate any criticism of the logos - expect a public smakdown if you do.

Miserable Failure
Have you ever typed 'miserable failure' into Google and hit the "I'm feeling lucky" button? Usually one of two sites come up: either this one: miserable failure or this one: miserable failure. This is not something that Google did, but is a powerful example of Google bombing. The keywords 'miserable failure' are not on those two pages, but is in the anchor text of incoming links to the site. This indicates to the Google search engine ranking algorithm, that these sites may be about 'miserable failure', so it ranks them for it!

Weapons of mass destruction and military victories
Like the miserable failure example, if you used to type in 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' and hit "I'm feeling lucky", you would get this page on Weapons of Mass Destruction. It does not currently rank any more as the number one site for those terms, buts its still funny and worth a close read. The French can't escape the humor either: French Military Victories.
